Sleep isn’t a science, nor is it an art. It’s a matter of precision, of getting it just right.
If you receive too little of it, it’s bad. You’re tired, you are irate and it could be the first step to a ruined day. If you get too much of it, you’re weirdly tired, maybe even a little lethargic. You may have missed some calls, or maybe even a meet up with a friend, along with your day’s wasted.
Preferred sleeping positions also affect the type of sleep we get as not sleeping the ideal way can affect how restful our sleep is.
To be able to wake up fully rested, everything needs to be perfect very much like baking. In the grand scheme of things, mattresses play a large role in that. It is one of the key ingredients in a good night’s sleep.

Making Sleep Better Zinus Green Tea Mattress Versus Nectar Mattress
With the Nectar Mattress as their flagship product, Nectar Sleep is a mattress and bedding company that is stationed in Palo Alto, California.
Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned before it’s a three-layer, all-foam bed. It consists of a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.
Let’s dig into every facet, shall we?

The Cover
Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the components are pretty breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a wonderful feel on your body.
Comfort Layer
Two comfort layers work hand-in-hand to provide you not just comfort, but also a balance that makes it possible to distribute your weight evenly throughout the whole mattress.
The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that is made of quilted memory foam using a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were designed this way so that when you sleep on it, it feels like its embracing your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps handle bodily aches, and can even help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.
Transitional Layer
For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam that measures about 1.75 inches instead of the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. Because of this technology the mattress is capable of hugging your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.
Support Layer
And finally, the support center. Along with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer foundation for the softer comfort layers. As a result of this, you receive a balanced, medium-firm sense without compromising the support of the mattress as a whole.

How Does It Feel?
Giving it a whirl, or more accurately, a rest, will require some prep time when you take it out of the packaging. We suggest you order it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping because it is going to take exactly that, hours before it’ll expand and reach its entire height.
Like a fine wine, it first needs to breathe. Zinus Green Tea Mattress Versus Nectar Mattress
As soon as you lie down, give it a few seconds and before you know it, the memory foam will begin kicking into high gear and you will feel a soft embrace over your body. It has a deep embrace feeling to it that people who love sleeping “in” a bed rather than “on” it will love this one.
The mattress’ firmness can be described as medium, not too tough, not to soft, it feels balanced. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is quite subjective, dependent not only on your preference, but also in your physicality. If you’re a bit on the lighter side, this may feel somewhat more firm to you than others would.
It’s about Positioning
So how does the Nectar mattress feel, that depends on what position you sleep in.
If you’re a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a perfect neutral position. Your lumbar area however may need extra support, in case it sinks a bit deeper but otherwise, it’s terrific for back sleepers.
For side sleepers, the memory foam’s sink allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. The uniform pressure release of the mattress counters the negative effect this sleeping position could have on your body, so this bed is looking like a wonderful choice for this position.
Stomach sleepers may not choose this mattress. You’ll definitely feel a sink into your abdomen area with this place, and you’re going to need to be very careful with this because it might impact your body adversely over time. A firmer mattress might be better suited to people who enjoy sleeping this way.
Couples will enjoy the bed a whole lot. Aside from being spacious enough to hold both of your comfortable, moving around and changing positions won’t be as annoying with your partner due to its movement isolation and edge support. Zinus Green Tea Mattress Versus Nectar Mattress

Some Bodies to Love
For a more comprehensive breakdown, we’ll be getting into body types and how different body types react differently to the Nectar Mattress.
The Lightweight Sleeper
As expected, a light sleeper will discover the Nectar to be tough on the body. They still experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very deep one. The experience can be described as a sort of “floating” feel to it. Usually, these kinds of sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they need that deep body hug.
But if you’re a light sleeper and you’re searching for a firm bed that still has a little that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress would be great.
The Typical Sleeper
The average sleeper discovered that the Nectar mattress was just as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you are falling to the bed. They felt that it was a good product because no sagging was felt, the body relief it provided after a long day was great no matter which sleeping position they went to bed in.
Heavyweight Sleepers
For heavy sleepers who want for something more firm, the Nectar Mattress may be the perfect fitThere’ll be a little sagging when the mattress starts to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but other than that, if this stability is your preference, it’s a great pick.
Sleeping on the Nectar Mattress
Although we tried to get to as much as we can with our review, we know really having the ability to feel the mattress for yourself, giving it an actual test is the best way to ascertain whether it’s for you. We can only act as a guide because, at the end of the day, it is all about your preference.
Your right mix of what you need and want to feel each evening.
As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and provides a 365 day evaluation period before fully committing to it. Think of it as getting to know your mattress long term before proposing, as opposed to popping the question after 3 or 4 months.
It’s a wonderful comfort to know that that option is there, just in the event of anything.
