Like Goldilocks taste in soup, sleep is all about figuring out which mattress is just right for you.
If you get too little of it, it is bad. You’re tired, you’re irate and it could be the first step to a ruined day. If you get too much of it, then you are weirdly tired, maybe even a bit lethargic. You may have missed a few calls, or maybe even a commitment with a friend, along with your day’s wasted.
Then there is your personal sleeping style and position to think about — because all of us know if we don’t sleep the ideal way, which is our own way, then something will go wrong.
To be able to wake up completely rested, everything needs to be perfect very much like baking. In the grand scheme of things, mattresses play a huge part in that. It is one of the important ingredients in a fantastic night’s sleep.
And today we’re reviewing one that’s out to establish itself as one of the best mattresses out there — The Nectar Mattress. It is a three-layer memory foam mattress with mid-level firmness to cover a broad selection of people’s sleeping preferences. High quality, smartly constructed and designed to help give you the best sleep you can ask for.
Does it succeed? Is it all that? We’re here to help you find out.
Before we begin, in case you’re in a hurry, or just prefer a more visual review, here is a video below by Kelly and Mar from the Nectar Sleep YouTube channel:
Making Sleep Better Which Mattress is Better Purple, Nectar, Casper
With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a mattress and bedding firm that made the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam bed.
Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned earlier it’s a three-layer, all-foam bed. It consists of a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.
Let’s dig into each aspect, shall we?

The Cover
Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the components are pretty breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a wonderful feel on your body.
The Layer for Comfort
Two comfort layers work hand-in-hand to provide you not only comfort, but also a balance that makes it possible to distribute your weight evenly throughout the entire mattress.
The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that’s made of quilted memory foam with a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were designed this way so that when you sleep on it, it feels like its hugging your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps manage bodily aches, and can help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.
Transitional Layer
For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam that measures about 1.75 inches instead of the usual polyfoam other mattresses have. Thanks to this technology the mattress is capable of hugging your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.
Support Layer
And finally, the service center. Together with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer base for the softer comfort layers. Because of this, you get a balanced, medium-firm feel without compromising the support of the mattress as a whole.

What’s it like?
Giving it a whirl, or more accurately, a rest, will need some prep time when you open it out of the packaging. We suggest you purchase it in the morning and begin setting up hours before sleeping because it is going to take exactly that, hours before it’ll expand and reach its entire height.
Like a fine wine, it needs to breathe. Which Mattress is Better Purple, Nectar, Casper
After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, trying it out after a long day of impatiently waiting, you will feel a tender embrace start to surround you. It has a deep hug feeling to it that people who love sleeping “in” a bed rather than “on” it will love this one.
Concerning firmness, it is around medium firmness — balanced, in that respect. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is quite subjective, dependent not only on your preference, but also on your physicality. If you are a bit on the other hand, this may feel a bit more firm to you than others would.
Positioning is the Key
Just how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.
If you are a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a perfect neutral position. Your lumbar area however may need extra support, in case it sinks a bit deeper but otherwise, it’s terrific for back sleepers.
For side sleepers, the memory foam’s sink allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. The uniform pressure release of the mattress really counters the negative impact this sleeping place could have on your body, so this bed is alreadylooking like a great choice for this position.
Stomach sleepers may not want this mattress. You’ll definitely feel a sink in your abdomen area with this place, and you’re going to need to be very careful with this since it may affect your body adversely with time. A firmer mattress might be better suited to people who enjoy sleeping this way.
Having a restless partner on the same bed as you won’t be as cumbersome as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can wiggle about without the other finding out. Which Mattress is Better Purple, Nectar, Casper

Some Bodies to Love
For a more comprehensive breakdown, we’ll be getting into body types and how different body types react differently to the Nectar Mattress.
The Lightweight Sleeper
The lightweight sleeper will find the mattress quite small tough, which is to be expected. They still experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very deep one. The experience could be described as a kind of “floating” feel to it. Usually, such sleepers need a soft to firm bed if they need that deep body hug.
But if you’re a light sleeper and you’re looking for a firm mattress which still has a little that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress would be great.
The Average Sleeper
The average sleeper thought that the Nectar mattress was just as advertised — company with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you are falling into the bed. They felt that it was a good product because no sagging was felt, the body relief it provided after a long day was great regardless of which sleeping position they went to bed in.
Heavy Sleepers
For heavy sleepers who desire for something more firm, the Nectar Mattress may be the perfect fitThere will be a bit of sagging when the mattress starts to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but other than that, if this stability is your preference, it is a great pick.
Sleeping on the Nectar Mattress
Although we tried to cover as much as we can with our trial , we know actually having the ability to feel the mattress on your own, giving it a real test is the best method to ascertain whether it is for you. We can only act as a guide because, at the end of the day, it is all about your own preference.
Your right mix of everything you need and want to feel every evening.
As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and offers a 365 day evaluation period before fully committing to it. It’s like properly getting to know your mattress over a long period of time instead of just after a few weeks of seeing each other.
It’s a great comfort to know that option is there, only in case of anything.
