Making Sleep Better Nectar Mattress Edges Not Expanding
With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a bedding and mattress firm that designed the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam bed.
The height of the mattress will depend on which type you’ll choose. There’s The Nectar, which is a 12″ profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13″ profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14″ profile. All mattresses have the signature three-layer all-foam bed which has a gel memory foam, dynamic support memory foam, and high-core memory foam; these three layers are sandwiched by a quilted cool cover and a Shift-resistant lower cover. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.
Let’s dig into every aspect, shall we?

The Cover
Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made of TENCEL lyocell and cotton. You get a wonderful feel on your body thanks to the fairly breathable and nice to the touch components of the mattress.
The Layer for Comfort
Two comfort layers work hand-in-hand to provide you not just comfort, but also a balance that helps you distribute your weight evenly throughout the entire mattress.
The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that’s made of quilted memory foam using a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were created this way so that when you sleep on it, it seems like its embracing your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, can help manage bodily aches, and may even help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.
Transitional Layer
For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam that measures about 1.75 inches rather than the usual polyfoam other mattresses have. Thanks to this technology the mattress is able to press against your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.
Support Layer
And finally, the service core. Along with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer base for the softer comfort layers. Because of this, you receive a balanced, medium-firm sense without undermining the support of the mattress as a whole.

How Does It Feel?
Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes a while right out of the box. We suggest you order it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping since it is going to take exactly that, hours before it’ll expand and reach its full height.
Like a good wine, it needs to breathe. Nectar Mattress Edges Not Expanding
As soon as you lie down, give it a few moments and before you know it, the memory foam will begin kicking into high gear and you will feel a tender embrace over your body. It has a deep embrace feeling to it that people who love sleeping “in” a bed instead of “on” it will love this one.
The mattress’ firmness can be described as medium, not too hard, not to soft, it feels balanced. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is quite subjective, dependent not just on your preference, but also in your physicality. If you are a bit on the other hand, this may feel a bit more firm for you than others would.
Positioning is the Key
So how does the Nectar mattress feel, that depends on what position you sleep in.
If you are a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. There’s no need to think about comfort as the mattress is designed to keep you in the perfect position Your lumbar area however may need extra support, if it sinks a bit deeper but otherwise, it’s great for back sleepers.
For side sleepers, the memory foam’s conforms itself which allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. This mattress is a great choice for side sleepers as the uniform pressure release of the bed counters the harmful effects side sleeping might have.
Stomach sleepers may not want this mattress. You’ll certainly feel a sink into your abdomen area with this position, and you’re going to need to be very careful with that because it may affect your body adversely over time. A firmer mattress may be better suited to those who like sleeping this way.
Having a restless spouse on the same mattress as you won’t be as annoying as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can wiggle about without the other knowing. Nectar Mattress Edges Not Expanding

Some Bodies to Love
For a more comprehensive breakdown, we are going to be getting into body types and how different body types react differently to the Nectar Mattress.
The Lightweight Sleeper
As expected, a light sleeper will find the Nectar to be tough on the body. They experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very deep one. The experience could be described as a kind of “floating” feel to it. Usually, these kinds of sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they need that deep body hug.
However, if you are a light sleeper and you’re searching for a firm bed that still has a little that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress would be great.
The Typical Sleeper
The ordinary sleeper discovered that the Nectar mattress was just as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you are falling to the bed. They felt that it was a good product because no sagging was felt, the body relief it provided after a long day was great no matter which sleeping position they went to bed in.
Heavyweight Sleepers
Although still quite supportive, the Nectar Mattress was more for those heavy sleepers who wanted something with medium firmness. There’ll be a little sagging when the mattress begins to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but besides that, if this stability is your preference, it is a great pick.
Sleeping on the Nectar Mattress
Although we tried to cover as much as we can with our review, we know actually being able to feel the mattress for yourself, giving it a real test is the best way to determine if it’s for you. As much as we would like to give you a decision, it’s still all about your own preference and we can only act as mediators of information.
Your right mix of everything you need and want to feel each evening.
As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and provides a 365 day evaluation period before fully committing to it. It’s like properly courting your mattress over a long period of time rather than of just after a few months of seeing each other.
It’s a wonderful comfort to know that that option is there, just in the event of anything.
