Sleep isn’t a science, nor is it an art. It’s a matter of precision, of getting it just right.
If you get too little of it, it is bad. You’re tired, you are irate and it might be the first step to a ruined day. If you get too much of it, you’re weirdly tired, perhaps even a little lethargic. You may have missed some calls, or perhaps even a commitment with a friend, along with your day’s wasted.
Preferred sleeping settings also affect the quality of sleep we get as not sleeping the perfect way can affect how well our sleep is.
Much like baking, you have to get everything to come away with that perfect batch of “sleep.” In the grand scheme of things, mattresses play a huge part in that. It’s one of the key ingredients in a good night’s sleep.

Building Better Sleep Indigo Sleep Bed Compared to Nectar
With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a mattress and bedding firm that designed the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam bed.
Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned earlier it’s a three-layer, all-foam bed. It has a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.
Let’s dig into each facet, shall we?

The Cover
Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the materials are pretty breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a nice feel on your body.
The Layer for Comfort
Two comfort layers work hand-in-hand to provide you not only comfort, but also a balance that makes it possible to distribute your weight evenly throughout the entire mattress.
The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that’s made from quilted memory foam with a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were designed this way so that when you sleep on it, it feels like its hugging your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps handle bodily aches, and can help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.
Transitional Layer
For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam which measures about 1.75 inches instead of the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. This improvement of the foam enhances how the mattress hugs your body without sagging too much.
Support Layer
And finally, the service core. It consists of a 2.2 PCF High-density polyfoam that’s about 5.25 inches thick. Together with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer foundation for the softer comfort layers. As a result of this, you get a balanced, medium-firm feel without undermining the support of the mattress as a whole.

How Does It Feel?
Giving it a whirl, or more accurately, a rest, will require some prep time when you open it out of the packaging. We suggest you purchase it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping because it will take precisely that, hours before it is going to expand and reach its full height.
Like a good wine, it first needs to breathe. Indigo Sleep Bed Compared to Nectar
After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, trying it out after a long day of patiently waiting, you will feel a soft embrace start to surround you. It’s a deep hug feeling to it that those who love sleeping “in” a bed instead of “on” it will really enjoy this one.
Concerning firmness, it’s around medium firmness — balanced, in that respect. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not just on your preference, but also on your physicality. If you’re a bit on the lighter side, this may feel a bit more firm for you than others would.
It’s about Positioning
So how does the Nectar mattress feel, that depends on what position you sleep in.
If you’re a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a perfect neutral position. Your lumbar area however may need additional support, in case it sinks a bit deeper but it’s great for back sleepers.
For side sleepers, the memory foam’s sink allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. This mattress is a great choice for side sleepers as the uniform pressure release of the bed counters the adverse effects side sleeping might have.
Stomach sleepers may not want this mattress. You’ll definitely feel a sink in your abdomen area with this position, and you’re going to have to be very careful with this because it might affect your body adversely over time. For those who sleep on their stomachs, we would recommend that you opt for a mattress that is harder than this one as it may lead to adverse effects.
Having a restless partner on the same bed as you won’t be as annoying as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can move about without the other knowing. Indigo Sleep Bed Compared to Nectar

Some Bodies to Love
For a more comprehensive breakdown, we are going to be getting into body types and how different body types react differently to the Nectar Mattress.
The Lightweight Sleeper
As expected, a light sleeper will find the Nectar to be tough on the body. They still experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it was not a very deep one. The experience could be described as a kind of “floating” feel to it. Usually, such sleepers need a soft to firm bed if they need that deep body hug.
However, if you’re a light sleeper and you’re searching for a firm mattress which still has a little that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress will be great.
The Average Sleeper
The ordinary sleeper discovered that the Nectar mattress was exactly as advertised — company with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you are falling into the bed. There was no sagging, good body relief and no matter the sleeping place, it was great.
Heavyweight Sleepers
For heavy sleepers who want for something more firm, the Nectar Mattress may be the perfect fitThere’ll be a little sagging when the mattress starts to hug and form around heavyweight sleepers, but besides that, if this firmness is your preference, it’s a wonderful pick.
Sleeping on the Nectar Mattress
Although we tried to get to as much as we could with our reviewwe know really having the ability to feel the mattress for yourself, giving it a real test is the best method to ascertain whether it is for you. As much as we would like to give you a decision, it’s still all about your own preference and we can only act as mediators of information.
Your right mix of everything you want and want to feel each night.
As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and offers a 365 day test period before fully committing to it. It’s like properly courting your bed over a long period of time rather than of just after a few weeks of seeing each other.
It’s a wonderful comfort to know that option is there, just in case of anything.
