Sleep isn’t a science, nor is it an art. It is a matter of precision, of getting it just perfect.
If you receive too little of it, it’s bad. You’re tired, you are irate and it might be the first step to a ruined day. If you get too much of it, you are weirdly tired, perhaps even a little lethargic. You might have missed some calls, or perhaps even a meet up with a friend, along with your day’s wasted.
Then there is your personal sleeping style and arrangement to consider — because all of us know if we do not sleep the ideal way, which is our own way, then something will go wrong.
Much like baking, you need to get everything right, to come off with that perfect batch of “sleep.” In the grand scheme of things, mattresses play a large part in that. It’s one of the key ingredients in a fantastic night’s sleep.
And today we’re reviewing one that is out to prove itself as one of the best mattresses on the market — The Nectar Mattress. It’s a three-layer memory foam mattress with mid-level firmness to cover a wide range of people’s sleeping preferences. High quality, smartly constructed and designed to help give you the best sleep you can request.
Does it succeed? Is it all that? We are here to help you find out.

Building Better Sleep Better Mattress Than Nectar
With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a bedding and mattress company that made the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam mattress.
The height of the mattress will depend on which type you’ll choose. There’s The Nectar, which is a 12″ profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13″ profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14″ profile. All mattresses have the signature three-layer all-foam bed which has a gel memory foam, dynamic support memory foam, and high-core memory foam; these three layers are sandwiched by a quilted cool cover and a Shift-resistant lower cover. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.
Let’s dig into each facet, shall we?

The Duvet
Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. You get a wonderful feel on your body thanks to the pretty breathable and nice to the touch materials of the mattress.
The Layer for Comfort
Helping you distribute your weight for a more comfy sleep, Nectar Mattress has two layers that prioritize comfort and proper sleep posture.
The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that is made of quilted memory foam with a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. Like a gentle embrace, this layer was made so that it feels like you are being embraced This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps manage bodily aches, and may help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.
Transitional Layer
For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam which measures about 1.75 inches instead of the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. Thanks to this technology the mattress is capable of hugging your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.
Support Layer
And finally, the service core. It consists of a 2.2 PCF High-density polyfoam that’s about 5.25 inches thick. Along with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer foundation for the softer comfort layers. As a result of this, you receive a balanced, medium-firm sense without compromising the support of the mattress as a whole.

How Does It Feel?
Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes some time right from the box. We suggest you purchase it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping since it will take exactly that, hours before it’ll expand and reach its entire height.
Like a fine wine, it needs to breathe. Better Mattress Than Nectar
After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, lying down after a long day of patiently waiting, you will feel a soft embrace start to surround you. It has a deep hug feeling to it that people who love sleeping “in” a bed instead of “on” it will really enjoy this one.
The mattress’ firmness can be described as medium, not too hard, not to soft, it feels perfectly balanced. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not only on your taste, but also on your physicality. If you are a bit on the other hand, this may feel a bit more firm to you than others might.
Positioning is the Key
Just how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.
If you are a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a perfect neutral position. Your lumbar area however may need additional support, if it sinks a bit deeper but otherwise, it’s terrific for back sleepers.
For side sleepers, the memory foam’s sink allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. The uniform pressure release of the mattress really counters the negative impact this sleeping position could have on your body, so this bed is looking like a great pick for this position.
Stomach sleepers may not want this mattress. You’ll definitely feel a sink in your abdomen area with this place, and you’ll need to be very careful with that because it may affect your body adversely with time. A firmer mattress may be better suited to people who like sleeping this way.
Couples will enjoy the bed a lot. Aside from being spacious enough to hold both of your comfy, moving around and changing positions won’t be as annoying with your partner due to its motion isolation and edge support. Better Mattress Than Nectar

Body Types for Nectar
For a more comprehensive breakdown, we’ll be getting into body types and how different body types react differently to the Nectar Mattress.
The Lightweight Sleeper
The lightweight sleeper will find the mattress quite little tough, which is to be expected. They still experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very deep one. The experience can be described as a sort of “floating” feel to it. Usually, these kinds of sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they need that deep body hug.
However, if you’re a light sleeper and you’re searching for a firm mattress which still has a bit of that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress will be great.
The Typical Sleeper
The average sleeper thought that the Nectar mattress was exactly as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you’re falling to the bed. They felt that it was a good product because no sagging was felt, the body relief it provided after a long day was great regardless of which sleeping position they went to bed in.
Heavyweight Sleepers
Although still quite supportive, the Nectar Mattress was for those heavy sleepers who wanted something with moderate stability. There’ll be a bit of sagging when the mattress begins to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but other than that, if this firmness is your preference, it is a wonderful pick.
Sleeping on the Nectar Mattress
Although we tried to get to as much as we can with our trial we know actually being able to feel the mattress for yourself, giving it an actual test is the best way to determine if it’s for you. As much as we would like to give you a hard recommendation, it’s still all about your preference and we can only act as mediators of information.
Your right mix of everything you want and want to feel each night.
As such, there are usually 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar desired to one-up that, and provides a 365 day test period before fully committing to it. It’s like properly courting your mattress over a long period of time instead of just after a few weeks of seeing each other.
It’s a great comfort to know that option is there, only in the event of anything.
