Before we begin, in case you’re in a hurry, or just prefer a more visual review, here is a video below by Kelly and Mar from the Nectar Sleep YouTube channel:
Building Better Sleep Are Nectar a Good Mattress
With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a mattress and bedding firm that designed the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam bed.
Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned before it is a three-layer, all-foam bed. It has a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.
Let’s dig into every aspect, shall we?

The Duvet
Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the materials are fairly breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a wonderful feel on your body.
The Layer for Comfort
Making it possible to distribute your weight for a more comfy sleep, Nectar Mattress has two layers that takes into account comfort and proper sleep posture.
The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that’s made from quilted memory foam with a 4PCF Density, while the second layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were designed this way so that when you sleep on it, it seems like its hugging your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps manage bodily aches, and may help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.
Transitional Layer
For the transitional layer, it has a high-density memory foam that measures about 1.75 inches rather than the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. This improvement of the foam enhances how the mattress hugs your body without it sagging too much.
Support Layer
And finally, the service center. Along with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer base for the softer comfort layers. As a result of this, you receive a balanced, medium-firm feel without undermining the support of the mattress as a whole.

What’s it like?
Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes some time right out of the box. We suggest you purchase it in the morning and begin setting up hours before sleeping because it will take precisely that, hours before it is going to expand and reach its full height.
Like a good wine, it first needs to breathe. Are Nectar a Good Mattress
As soon as you lie down, give it a few moments and before you know it, the memory foam will begin kicking into high gear and you will feel a soft embrace over your body. It has a deep hug feeling to it that those who love sleeping “in” a bed rather than “on” it will love this one.
The mattress’ firmness can be described as medium, not too hard, not to squishy, it feels balanced. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is quite subjective, dependent not only on your preference, but also on your physicality. If you are a bit on the lighter side, this may feel a bit more firm to you than others would.
Positioning is the Key
Just how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.
If you’re a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a perfect neutral position. Your pelvic region however may need extra support, in case it sinks a bit deeper but it’s terrific for back sleepers.
For side sleepers, the memory foam’s conforms itself which allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. This mattress is a perfect choice for side sleepers as the uniform pressure release of the bed counters the harmful effects side sleeping might have.
Stomach sleepers may not want this mattress. You’ll certainly feel a sink into your abdomen area with this place, and you’re going to have to be very careful with this because it may impact your body adversely over time. For those who sleep on their stomachs, we recommend that you opt for a mattress that is harder than this one as it may lead to adverse effects.
Having a restless partner on the same mattress as you won’t be as annoying as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can move about without the other finding out. Are Nectar a Good Mattress

Body Types for Nectar
For a more comprehensive breakdown, we’ll be getting into body types and how different body types respond differently to the Nectar Mattress.
The Lightweight Sleeper
As expected, a light sleeper will find the Nectar to be tough on the body. They experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very profound one. The experience can be described as a sort of “floating” feel to it. Usually, such sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they want that deep body hug.
However, if you’re a light sleeper and you’re looking for a firm bed that still has a little that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress will be great.
The Typical Sleeper
The ordinary sleeper thought that the Nectar mattress was just as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you are falling into the bed. They felt that it was a good product because no sagging was felt, the body relief it provided after a long day was great regardless of which sleeping position they went to bed in.
Heavyweight Sleepers
Although still quite supportive, the Nectar Mattress was for those heavy sleepers who wanted something with medium firmness. There’ll be a bit of sagging when the mattress starts to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but besides that, if this stability is your preference, it’s a wonderful pick.
The Sleep Test
Although we tried to cover as much as we can with our trial , we know actually having the ability to feel the mattress for yourself, giving it an actual test is the best method to ascertain whether it is for you. We can only act as a guide because, at the end of the day, it is all about your own preference.
Your right mix of everything you want and want to feel each night.
As such, there are usually 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and offers a 365 day test period before fully committing to it. Consider it as dating your mattress long term before proposing, as opposed to popping the question after 3 or 4 weeks.
It’s a wonderful comfort to know that that option is there, just in the event of anything.
Final Thoughts: Where Dreams Begin Are Nectar a Good Mattress
