Sleep is not a science, nor is it an art. It is a matter of precision, of getting it just right.
If you receive too little of it, it’s bad. You’re tired, you are irate and it could be the first step to a ruined day. If you get too much of it, you’re weirdly tired, perhaps even a bit lethargic. Lacking sleep can cause you to miss out a perfectly good day of commitments.
Preferred sleeping positions also affect the quality of sleep we get as not sleeping the ideal way can affect how well our sleep is.
Much like baking, you need to get everything to come off with that perfect batch of “sleep.” In the grand scheme of things, mattresses play a large part in that. It is one of the key ingredients in a good night’s sleep.
And today we are reviewing one that’s out to establish itself as one of the best mattresses out there — The Nectar Mattress. It is a three-layer memory foam mattress with mid-level toughness to cover a wide range of people’s sleeping preferences. High quality, smartly constructed and designed to help give you the best sleep you can ask for.
Does it succeed? Is it all that? We are here to help you find out.
Before anything else, in case you’re in a rush, or just prefer a more visual review, here is a video below by Kelly and Mar from the Nectar Sleep YouTube channel:
Building Better Sleep Unpacking Nectar Mattress
With the Nectar Mattress as their flagship product, Nectar Sleep is a bedding and mattress company that is stationed in Palo Alto, California.
Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned earlier it is a three-layer, all-foam bed. It has a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.
Let’s dig into each facet, shall we?

The Cover
Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. You get a wonderful feel on your body thanks to the fairly breathable and nice to the touch components of the mattress.
The Layer for Comfort
Making it possible to distribute your weight for a more comfy sleep, Nectar Mattress has two layers that takes into account comfort and proper sleep posture.
The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that’s made from quilted memory foam with a 4PCF Density, while the second layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were designed this way so that when you sleep on it, it seems like its embracing your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, can help handle bodily aches, and may help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.
Transitional Layer
For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam which measures about 1.75 inches instead of the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. Thanks to this technology the mattress is capable of hugging your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.
Support Layer
And finally, the support center. It consists of a 2.2 PCF High-density polyfoam that is about 5.25 inches thick. Together with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer foundation for the softer comfort layers. Because of this, you get a balanced, medium-firm feel without undermining the support of the mattress as a whole.

What’s it like?
Giving it a whirl, or more accurately, a rest, will require some prep time when you take it out of the packaging. We suggest you purchase it in the morning and begin setting up hours before sleeping since it is going to take precisely that, hours before it is going to expand and reach its full height.
Like a fine wine, it first needs to breathe. Unpacking Nectar Mattress
After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, lying down after a long day of impatiently waiting, you will feel a soft embrace start to surround you. It has a deep embrace feeling to it that people who love sleeping “in” a bed instead of “on” it will love this one.
Concerning firmness, it’s around medium firmness — balanced, in that regard. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is quite subjective, dependent not just on your preference, but also on your physicality. If you’re a bit on the lighter side, this may feel somewhat more firm for you than others would.
Positioning is the Key
So how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.
If you are a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. There’s no need to worry about posture as the mattress is designed to keep you in the recommended position Your lumbar area however may need extra support, in case it sinks a bit deeper but otherwise, it’s terrific for back sleepers.
For side sleepers, the memory foam’s conforms itself which allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. This mattress is a great option for side sleepers as the uniform pressure release of the bed counters the adverse effects side sleeping might have.
Stomach sleepers may not want this mattress. You’ll definitely feel a sink in your abdomen area with this position, and you’ll have to be very careful with that because it might impact your body adversely with time. For those who sleep on their stomachs, we recommend that you choose a mattress that is firmer than this one as it may lead to adverse effects.
Couples will appreciate the bed a lot. Aside from being spacious enough to hold both of your comfy, moving around and changing positions will not be as annoying with your partner due to its movement isolation and edge support. Unpacking Nectar Mattress

Body Types for Nectar
For a more comprehensive breakdown, we are going to be getting into body types and how different body types respond differently to the Nectar Mattress.
The Lightweight Sleeper
As expected, a light sleeper will discover the Nectar to be firm on the body. They still experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very profound one. The experience can be described as a kind of “floating” feel to it. Usually, such sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they want that deep body hug.
However, if you are a light sleeper and you’re looking for a firm bed that still has a bit of that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress will be great.
The Typical Sleeper
The ordinary sleeper thought that the Nectar mattress was just as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you’re falling into the bed. They felt that it was a good product because no sagging was felt, the body relief it provided after a long day was superior no matter which sleeping position they went to bed in.
Heavy Sleepers
Although still very supportive, the Nectar Mattress was more for those heavy sleepers who wanted something with medium firmness. There will be a bit of sagging when the mattress starts to hug and form around heavyweight sleepers, but besides that, if this firmness is your preference, it’s a wonderful pick.
The Sleep Test
Although we tried to cover as much as we can with our review, we know actually being able to feel the mattress on your own, giving it a real test is the best method to determine whether it’s for you. We can only act as a guide since, at the end of the day, it’s all about your preference.
Your right mix of everything you want and want to feel every evening.
As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar desired to one-up that, and provides a 365 day evaluation period before fully committing to it. It’s like properly getting to know your bed over a long period of time rather than of just after a few weeks of seeing each other.
It’s a great comfort to know that option is there, just in case of anything.
