Like Goldilocks preference in soup, sleep is all about finding out which mattress is just right for you.
If you receive too little of it, it’s bad. You’re tired, you are irate and it might be the first step to a ruined day. If you get too much of it, then you’re weirdly tired, maybe even a little lethargic. You might have missed a few calls, or perhaps even a meet up with a friend, along with your day’s wasted.
Preferred sleeping positions also affect the type of sleep we get as not sleeping the perfect way can affect how well our sleep is.
Much like baking, you have to get everything to come off with that perfect batch of “sleep.” In the grand scheme of things, mattresses play a huge part in that. It’s one of the key ingredients in a good night’s sleep.
And today we’re reviewing one that’s out to prove itself as one of the top mattresses out there — The Nectar Mattress. It’s a three-layer memory foam mattress with mid-level firmness to cover a broad range of people’s sleeping preferences. High quality, smartly constructed and designed to help give you the best sleep you can request.
Does it succeed? Is it all that? We are here to help you find out.
Before anything else, in case you’re in a hurry, or just prefer a more visual review, here is a video below by Kelly and Mar from the Nectar Sleep YouTube channel:

With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a mattress and bedding firm that made the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam mattress.
Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned earlier it is a three-layer, all-foam bed. It has a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.
Let’s dig into every aspect, shall we?

The Cover
Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the materials are pretty breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a wonderful feel on your body.
The Layer for Comfort
Two comfort layers work hand-in-hand to provide you not only comfort, but also a balance that helps you distribute your weight evenly throughout the whole mattress.
The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that is made from quilted memory foam using a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were designed this way so that when you sleep on it, it feels like its hugging your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, can help handle bodily aches, and can even help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.
Transitional Layer
For the transitional layer, it has a high-density memory foam that measures about 1.75 inches rather than the usual polyfoam other mattresses have. This improvement of the foam enhances the way the mattress hugs your body without sagging too much.
Support Layer
And finally, the service center. It contains a 2.2 PCF High-density polyfoam that is about 5.25 inches thick. Together with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer base for the softer comfort layers. As a result of this, you get a balanced, medium-firm sense without undermining the support of the mattress as a whole.

How Does It Feel?
Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes some time right from the box. We suggest you order it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping because it will take precisely that, hours before it is going to expand and reach its entire height.
Like a fine wine, it first needs to breathe. Nectar Mattress Radio Commercial
Once you lie down, give it a few seconds and before you know it, the memory foam will begin kicking into high gear and you will feel a tender embrace over your body. It has a deep hug feeling to it that those who love sleeping “in” a bed instead of “on” it will love this one.
The mattress’ firmness can be described as medium, not too tough, not to squishy, it feels perfectly balanced. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not only on your preference, but also on your physicality. If you are a bit on the lighter side, this may feel a bit more firm to you than others would.
Positioning is the Key
So how does the Nectar mattress feel, that depends on what position you sleep in.
If you are a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. There’s no need to worry about comfort as the mattress is designed to keep you in the recommended position Your lumbar area however may need additional support, if it sinks a bit deeper but otherwise, it’s great for back sleepers.
For side sleepers, the memory foam’s conforms itself which allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. This mattress is a perfect choice for side sleepers as the uniform pressure release of the bed counters the harmful effects side sleeping might have.
Stomach sleepers may not choose this mattress. You’ll definitely feel a sink in your abdomen area with this position, and you’re going to have to be very careful with this because it might impact your body adversely over time. For those who sleep on their stomachs, we would recommend that you opt for a mattress that is firmer than this one as it may lead to adverse effects.
Having a restless spouse on the same mattress as you won’t be as cumbersome as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can wiggle about without the other finding out. Nectar Mattress Radio Commercial

Body Types for Nectar
For a more comprehensive breakdown, we are going to be getting into body types and how different body types respond differently to the Nectar Mattress.
The Lightweight Sleeper
As expected, a light sleeper will discover the Nectar to be tough on the body. They experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it was not a very profound one. The experience can be described as a kind of “floating” feel to it. Usually, such sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they need that deep body hug.
However, if you are a light sleeper and you’re looking for a firm mattress which still has a bit of that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress would be great.
The Average Sleeper
The ordinary sleeper discovered that the Nectar mattress was exactly as advertised — company with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you’re falling into the bed. There was no sagging, superior body relief and no matter the sleeping place, it was good.
Heavyweight Sleepers
Although still very supportive, the Nectar Mattress was for those heavy sleepers who wanted something with moderate stability. There will be a little sagging when the mattress begins to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but besides that, if this firmness is your preference, it’s a great pick.
The Sleep Test
Although we tried to cover as much as we can with our trial , we know really being able to feel the mattress on your own, giving it an actual test is the best way to ascertain if it is for you. We can only act as a guide because, at the end of the day, it is all about your preference.
Your right mix of what you want and want to feel every night.
As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and provides a 365 day evaluation period before fully committing to it. It’s like properly courting your bed over a long period of time instead of just after a few weeks of seeing each other.
It’s a great comfort to know that that option is there, just in the event of anything.
