Like Goldilocks preference in soup, sleep is all about figuring out which mattress is just right for you.
If you get too little of it, it’s bad. You’re tired, you’re irate and it might be the first step to a ruined day. If you get too much of it, then you are weirdly tired, maybe even a little lethargic. You might have missed some calls, or maybe even a commitment with a buddy, along with your day’s wasted.
Preferred sleeping settings also affect the quality of sleep we get as not sleeping the ideal way can affect how well our sleep is.
Much like baking, you need to get everything right, to come off with that perfect batch of “sleep.” In the grand scheme of things, mattresses play a huge part in that. It is one of the important ingredients in a good night’s sleep.
And today we’re reviewing one that is out to establish itself as one of the top mattresses out there — The Nectar Mattress. It is a three-layer memory foam mattress with mid-level toughness to cover a wide selection of people’s sleeping preferences. High quality, smartly constructed and designed to help give you the best sleep you can ask for.
Does it succeed? Is it all that? We are here to help you find out.
Before we begin, in case you’re in a hurry, or just prefer a more visual review, here is a video below by Kelly and Mar from the Nectar Sleep YouTube channel:
Making Sleep Better Ends of Nectar Mattress Not Expanding
With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a bedding and mattress firm that made the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam mattress.
Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned before it’s a three-layer, all-foam bed. It consists of a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.
Let’s dig into each facet, shall we?

The Cover
Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made of TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the materials are pretty breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a wonderful feel on your body.
Comfort Layer
Making it possible to distribute your weight for a more comfy sleep, Nectar Mattress has two layers that takes into account comfort and proper sleep posture.
The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that is made from quilted memory foam using a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were created this way so that when you sleep on it, it feels like its hugging your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps handle bodily aches, and can help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.
Transitional Layer
For the transitional layer, it has a high-density memory foam that measures about 1.75 inches instead of the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. Because of this technology the mattress is able to press against your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.
Support Layer
And finally, the support center. It consists of a 2.2 PCF High-density polyfoam that’s about 5.25 inches thick. Together with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer base for the softer comfort layers. Because of this, you receive a balanced, medium-firm sense without compromising the support of the mattress as a whole.

What’s it like?
Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes a while right from the box. We suggest you order it in the morning and begin setting up hours before sleeping since it will take precisely that, hours before it is going to expand and reach its full height.
Like a fine wine, it first needs to breathe. Ends of Nectar Mattress Not Expanding
Once you lie down, give it a few moments and before you know it, the memory foam will begin kicking into high gear and you’ll feel a tender embrace over your body. It’s a deep hug feeling to it that people who love sleeping “in” a bed instead of “on” it will love this one.
Concerning firmness, it’s around medium firmness — balanced, in that respect. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not just on your taste, but also in your physicality. If you are a bit on the lighter side, this may feel somewhat more firm to you than others would.
Positioning is the Key
So how does the Nectar mattress feel, that depends on what position you sleep in.
If you are a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a perfect neutral position. Your lumbar area however may need extra support, if it sinks a bit deeper but otherwise, it’s great for back sleepers.
For side sleepers, the memory foam’s sink allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. The uniform pressure release of the mattress counters the negative impact this sleeping position could have on your body, so this bed is looking like a great choice for this position.
Stomach sleepers may not want this mattress. You’ll definitely feel a sink in your abdomen area with this place, and you’re going to have to be very careful with that because it may affect your body adversely over time. A firmer mattress might be better suited to people who like sleeping this way.
Having a restless partner on the same mattress as you won’t be as annoying as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can wiggle about without the other knowing. Ends of Nectar Mattress Not Expanding

Body Types for Nectar
For a more comprehensive breakdown, we are going to be getting into body types and how different body types react differently to the Nectar Mattress.
The Lightweight Sleeper
As expected, a light sleeper will discover the Nectar to be tough on the body. They still experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very deep one. The experience could be described as a kind of “floating” feel to it. Usually, these kinds of sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they need that deep body hug.
However, if you are a light sleeper and you’re looking for a firm mattress which still has a little that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress would be great.
The Typical Sleeper
The average sleeper discovered that the Nectar mattress was exactly as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you’re falling to the bed. They felt that it was a good product because no sagging was felt, the body relief it provided after a long day was superior regardless of which sleeping position they went to bed in.
Heavyweight Sleepers
For heavy sleepers who want for something more firm, the Nectar Mattress may be the perfect fitThere will be a little sagging when the mattress starts to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but other than that, if this firmness is your preference, it is a great pick.
The Sleep Test
Although we tried to cover as much as we can with our trial we know actually being able to feel the mattress for yourself, giving it an actual test is the best way to determine whether it’s for you. As much as we would want to give you a hard recommendation, it’s still all about your preference and we can only act as mediators of information.
Your right mix of everything you need and want to feel each evening.
As such, there are usually 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and provides a 365 day test period before fully committing to it. It’s like properly getting to know your bed over a long period of time instead of just after a few weeks of seeing each other.
It’s a great comfort to know that that option is there, just in case of anything.
