Sleep is not a science, nor is it an art. It is a matter of precision, of getting it just perfect.
If you get too little of it, it’s bad. You’re tired, you’re irate and it might be the first step to a ruined day. If you get too much of it, you’re weirdly tired, perhaps even a bit lethargic. Lacking sleep can cause you to miss out a perfectly good day of activities.
Then there’s your personal sleeping style and arrangement to consider — because all of us know if we do not sleep the right way, which is our own way, then something will fail.
Much like baking, you have to get everything right, to come away with that perfect batch of “sleep.” In the grand scheme of things, mattresses play a huge role in that. It’s one of the important ingredients in a good night’s sleep.
The Nectar Mattress has proved itself to be one of the most reliable mattresses available right now in the market. It is a three-layer memory foam mattress with mid-level toughness to cover a wide range of people’s sleeping preferences. High quality, smartly constructed and designed to help give you the best sleep you can request.
Does it succeed? Is it all that? We are here to help you find out.
Before anything else, in case you’re in a hurry, or just prefer a more visual review, here is a video below by Kelly and Mar from the Nectar Sleep YouTube channel:
Building Better Sleep Is a Nectar Mattress Too Soft
With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a mattress and bedding company that designed the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam mattress.
The height of the mattress will depend on which type you’ll choose. There’s The Nectar, which is a 12″ profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13″ profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14″ profile. All mattresses have the patented three-layer all-foam bed which consists of a gel memory foam, dynamic support memory foam, and high-core memory foam; these three layers are sandwiched by a quilted cool cover and a Shift-resistant lower cover. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.
Let’s dig into each aspect, shall we?

The Cover
Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made of TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the materials are pretty breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a nice feel on your body.
Comfort Layer
Two comfort layers work hand-in-hand to give you not only comfort, but also a balance that helps you distribute your weight evenly throughout the whole mattress.
The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that is made of quilted memory foam using a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were created this way so that when you sleep on it, it seems like its embracing your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps handle bodily aches, and may even help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.
Transitional Layer
For the transitional layer, it has a high-density memory foam which measures about 1.75 inches instead of the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. Because of this technology the mattress is capable of hugging your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.
Support Layer
And finally, the service core. It contains a 2.2 PCF High-density polyfoam that’s about 5.25 inches thick. Along with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer base for the softer comfort layers. Because of this, you get a balanced, medium-firm feel without compromising the support of the mattress as a whole.

How Does It Feel?
Giving it a whirl, or more accurately, a rest, will need some prep time when you open it out of the packaging. We suggest you purchase it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping because it will take exactly that, hours before it is going to expand and reach its entire height.
Like a fine wine, it needs to breathe. Is a Nectar Mattress Too Soft
Once you lie down, give it a few moments and before you know it, the memory foam will begin kicking into high gear and you’ll feel a tender embrace over your body. It has a deep hug feeling to it that those who love sleeping “in” a bed instead of “on” it will really enjoy this one.
The mattress’ firmness can be described as medium, not too tough, not to soft, it feels balanced. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not just on your taste, but also in your physicality. If you are a bit on the lighter side, this may feel a bit more firm to you than others might.
It’s All About Positioning
So how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.
If you’re a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a perfect neutral position. Your pelvic region however may need extra support, if it sinks a bit deeper but it’s terrific for back sleepers.
For side sleepers, the memory foam’s conforms itself which allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. This mattress is a great option for side sleepers as the uniform pressure release of the bed counters the harmful effects side sleeping might have.
Stomach sleepers may not choose this mattress. You’ll definitely feel a sink in your abdomen area with this position, and you’ll need to be very careful with this since it may impact your body adversely over time. For those who sleep on their stomachs, we recommend that you choose a mattress that is firmer than this one as it may lead to adverse effects.
Having a restless spouse on the same bed as you won’t be as cumbersome as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can move about without the other finding out. Is a Nectar Mattress Too Soft

Some Bodies to Love
For a more comprehensive breakdown, we’ll be getting into body types and how different body types respond differently to the Nectar Mattress.
The Lightweight Sleeper
As expected, a light sleeper will find the Nectar to be firm on the body. They still experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very deep one. The experience could be described as a kind of “floating” feel to it. Usually, these kinds of sleepers need a soft to firm bed if they need that deep body hug.
But if you are a light sleeper and you’re looking for a firm bed that still has a little that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress would be great.
The Typical Sleeper
The average sleeper discovered that the Nectar mattress was just as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you’re falling into the bed. They felt that it was a good product because no sagging was felt, the body relief it provided after a long day was superior regardless of which sleeping position they went to bed in.
Heavyweight Sleepers
Although still quite supportive, the Nectar Mattress was more for those heavy sleepers who wanted something with medium firmness. There will be a bit of sagging when the mattress starts to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but other than that, if this stability is your preference, it’s a wonderful pick.
Sleeping on the Nectar Mattress
Although we tried to cover as much as we could with our trial , we know actually having the ability to feel the mattress for yourself, giving it a real test is the best way to ascertain if it’s for you. As much as we would want to give you a hard recommendation, it’s still all about your own preference and we can only act as mediators of information.
Your right mix of what you need and want to feel every evening.
As such, there are usually 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and provides a 365 day test period before fully committing to it. Think of it as getting to know your mattress long term before proposing, as opposed to popping the question after 3 or 4 months.
It’s a great comfort to know that option is there, just in the event of anything.
Final Thoughts: Where Dreams Begin Is a Nectar Mattress Too Soft
So is this the mattress for you?
If the bed you’re looking for is one that’s not too firm, as well as you aren’t a stomach sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress may as well be the best addition to your sleeping apparatus.
Thanks to the cost-efficient materials that supply a affordable price and equally as great comfort, Nectar’s mattress is great option for your bedroom Nectar’s managed to make a memory foam with all the pros, and significantly fewer drawbacks, and that in itself makes it at least worth giving serious consideration for.
